I backpack for days into the High Sierras to capture the golden light that touches granite peaks and reflects from crystal clear alpine lakes.
The High Sierras are my true home, and I feel their call every time I am away from them. I strap on my backpack and head into the wilderness, where the trails are steep and the air is thin. I walk for miles through pine forests and across rocky passes, testing my strength and endurance.
I camp beside alpine lakes that reflect the peaks like perfect mirrors of blue and white. I wake before the sun, and I climb to a ridge where I can watch the first light touch the granite summits. The golden glow spreads across the mountains, and it fills me with a peace that I cannot find anywhere else. I set up my camera, and I wait for the light to reach the perfect intensity.
I capture the way the shadows fall across the cliffs and the way the water sparkles in the morning sun. Every photograph comes from a place of deep love and respect for these ancient mountains. I want to share this beauty with you so you can feel the same peace.
I have hiked hundreds of miles across the High Sierras, and I know these mountains better than I know most places. I have stood on the summit of Mount Whitney, and I have looked down at the world below me. I have camped beside Thousand Island Lake, and I have watched the stars reflect in its still waters.
I have crossed the John Muir Pass and felt the wind cut through my jacket. I have photographed the Evolution Valley and the majestic peaks that surround it. I have followed the Pacific Crest Trail through the most beautiful sections of the Sierra.
I have waited for storms to pass so I could capture the light breaking through the clouds. I have watched the aspens turn gold in the autumn, and I have seen the wildflowers bloom in the spring. The High Sierras are a place of endless wonder, and I never tire of exploring them.
I capture these images so you can bring a piece of the Sierra magic into your home and feel connected to the wilderness.
